What is the tickling charm spell? ›

Rictusempra, the Perpetual Tickling charm, which apparently can be stopped by the Finite Incantatem charm, was used by Harry against Malfoy in the Duelling Club. The intent was, of course, to tickle Malfoy to the point that he would be unable to jinx Harry in return.

"Rictusempra" is derived from the Latin "rictus", meaning "the expanse of an open mouth", and the Latin "semper", meaning "always". Overall, the incantation roughly means "always laughing".

Then, the students and Hagrid went to Silvanus Kettleburn in order to learn about dragons. He advised them to practise their protective wards and Stunning Spell & warned them that there's no greater existential threat that dragonfire, and no dragon is safe.

Norbert is a Norwegian Ridgeback dragon that Hagrid had acquired as an egg from a mysterious, hooded stranger in the Hog's Head, who turned out to be Professor Quirrell. Hagrid helps the dragon hatch from the egg. Norbert becomes very dangerous and much bigger in the weeks following.
