George Weber, Plumber Uniondale--About 70 years ago, when George Weber moved to Uniondale from Brooklyn. there were few plumbers in Nassau County.

After forming his own plumbing business, he and his brother, Joseph, built a home made of military surplus taken from Mitchel Field in 1919. The home, at 787 Davis is one of the area's oldest. Weber, 86, who died Sunday in Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, had been an active member of the Uniondale Fire Department, a company he helped found He also had helped form the Hempstead Fire Department. He had worked at Grumman Corp during World War II and retired from his own business about 15 years ago.
