Oct. 1, 1922, in Nacogdoches, she lived in Cushing for about three years, coming from Longview where she lived for many years. She was a retired beautician and owned and operated Rossow's Beauty Salon for many years.
She was a Methodist. He died Sunday in a Marshall hospital. Born Dec. 10, 1905, in Bienville Parish, he moved to Jefferson in 1937 from Kilgore. He owned Dan Lester Drilling Co. until 1980.
He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church where he served in the vestry and was a senior warden. He was mayor of Jefferson from 1953-1975. He was named Man of the Year in 1977. He was a 50-year member of Trinity Lodge A.F.&A.M. and was a Shriner.
He supported the Boy Scouts, and was a past member of Texas Historical Commission. He was a board of directors for First National Bank. July 17, 1963, was proclaimed Ruth and Dan Lester Day in Jefferson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth, who died in 1968. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Lester; daughters, Mary Evelyn Dowell of Bullard, Vicki Whelan of Marshall and Margaret Ann Fant of Longview; son, Gary Fant of Jefferson; and eight grandchildren.

Leverett was born Feb. 18, 1897, in Overton. He received his early education at Leveret's Chapel School where he was taught by his mother, the school's first teacher. He was a veteran of World War after which he worked for Lago Petroleum Corp. in Maracaibo, Venezuela, South America.
There he met and married his wife, the former Roseanneli Allendorf of Berlin, Germany. After completing his service in Venezuela, he returned to Leverett's Chapel. Mr. Leverett also served on the Board of Trustees of both Kilgore and Schreiner colleges, was a trustee of The MacMillian Foundation and was a member of Rotary Club and the Rusk County Historical Society. He was a member of First Presbyterian church where he was recently honored as Elder Emeritus and was a Mason and a Shriner.
Survivors include wife, Roseanneli; brothers, Leyburn of New London and Wilton H. of Overton; foster sons, John W. Evans of Malvern, Helmut Thielsch of Cranston, R.I., Webb Jay of New Orleans and Wilott Heerde of Oslo, Norway; nephews, Howard M. of Kerrville, Robert D. Heath of Overton and Donald E.
