The Darkin Scythe

Kayn/LoL (19)

Innate: Kayn has a secondary experience bar that tracks progress toward his Kayn/LoL (20) Darkin and Kayn/LoL (21) Shadow Assassin forms. He gathers orbs from champion Kayn/LoL (22) takedowns and each instance of damage (excluding damage over time) dealt against champions. Once he has earned enough orbs, he unlocks a form based on whether he earned more from Kayn/LoL (23) melee or Kayn/LoL (24) ranged champions (for Kayn/LoL (25) Darkin and Kayn/LoL (26) Shadow Assassin, respectively), with the other form unlocked later.

Kayn/LoL (27)

Kayn can move near the summoning platform to transform over 6 seconds, restoring to full health and mana and becoming Kayn/LoL (28) invulnerable, Kayn/LoL (29) untargetable, and unable to act for the duration. Kayn cannot choose a form if he is unable to cast abilities. The transformation will grant a passive bonus and permanently empower some of Kayn's abilities based on the form chosen. He gains a one-time Homeguard once the transformation is complete.

Kayn/LoL (30)

Kayn/LoL (31) Shadow Assassin Bonus: If Kayn has been out of combat with enemy champions for over 8 seconds, or he casts Kayn/LoL (32) Umbral Trespass, he deals 15% − 45% (based on level) of post-mitigation damage dealt against enemy champions as bonus magic damage, lasting for 3 seconds upon entering combat and also applying on the first instance of damage dealt. If this effect is ready, it will not be lost by taking damage.

Kayn/LoL (34) Darkin Bonus: Rhaast Kayn/LoL (35) heals for 25% (+ 0.5% per 100 bonus health) of the post-mitigation Kayn/LoL (36) physical damage that he deals to enemy champions with his abilities.

The Orb System

The experience is depicted as orbs that drop upon the ground. Kayn/LoL (41) Melee champions drop red orbs that grant progress towards Kayn/LoL (42) Darkin, while Kayn/LoL (43) ranged champions drop blue orbs that grant progress for Kayn/LoL (44) Shadow Assassin. Orbs will remain on the ground until automatically collected by Kayn regardless of range once he leaves combat. The orbs will be collected even if Kayn Kayn/LoL (45) dies.

The experience bar above his portrait gauges his current progression, the color reflects the form with greater progress. Kayn can transform by interacting with his portrait, and can wait 4 minutes until the other form becomes available, reduced by 5 seconds for each collected orb of their type after that.

  • Melee orbs grant 2 points per hit and 6 points per takedown.
  • Ranged orbs grant 3 points per hit and 7 points per takedown.
  • The amount of points received per orb is multiplied by 3 − 10.39 (based on minutes).
  • The bar gets filled up completely at 500 points.
  • If the two forms are within 8% of each other, the last champion range type hit will determine the winner. If both types are hit at the same time, the trasformation will default to Kayn/LoL (46) Darkin.
  • Each side's bar has a bucket system, starting at 60 points.
    • Each time an orb is taken the system checks if there's an amount of points in the bucket equal to or higher than the amount received from the orb.
      If there is, Kayn is given an additional orb of the same type he received, while also subtracting that amount of points from the bucket.
    • The bucket fills by 0.8 points per second if out of champion combat for 70 seconds.
  • Damage dealt by Kayn/LoL (47) damage over time effects and specifically Kayn/LoL (48) First Strike and Kayn/LoL (49) Summon Aery will not grant orbs.

This damage has a cap against monsters that does not include the bonus damage.

Reaping Slash's dash speed scales with Kayn's Kayn/LoL (58)total movement speed.

  • Kayn/LoL (59) Spell shields will block only a single instance of damage - either the dash or the slash.
  • If the Kayn/LoL (60) dash is Kayn/LoL (61) interrupted, Kayn will not swing his scythe.
  • Reaping Slash's swing can be performed quicker if the dash stops prematurely upon colliding with terrain.
  • As the Kayn/LoL (62) Shadow Assassin, an Kayn/LoL (63) alternate icon for Reaping Slash is used but has no modified effect.
  • Other abilities can be queued while casting Reaping Slash.
  • Item actives are locked out while casting.
  • The swing's animation has a 0.25-second Kayn/LoL (64) lockout time.
    • Kayn will only be able to move after 0.416 seconds.

    Shadow Step

    Active: Kayn gains Kayn/LoL (90)40% bonus total movement speed, Kayn/LoL (91) ghosting and the ability to ignore terrain collision for a duration. If he has been in combat with enemy champions within the last 3 seconds, Shadow Step will instead last 1.5 seconds.

    Receiving damage from or dealing damage to an enemy Kayn/LoL (94) champion while Shadow Step is active reduces its remaining duration to 1.5 seconds. This effect also cannot remain active out of terrain for longer than 1.5 seconds and will cancel immediately if Kayn performs a basic attack or becomes Kayn/LoL (95) immobilized, excluding from Kayn/LoL (96) sleep(bug), or Kayn/LoL (97) polymorphed.

    Kayn/LoL (99) Shadow Assassin Bonus: Shadow Step's Kayn/LoL (100)cooldown is reduced to 10 seconds at all ranks. Kayn gains 100% Kayn/LoL (101) slow resist while active and, upon entering terrain, the bonus total movement speed is increased to 70% for the remaining duration.

    • As Kayn/LoL (102) Rhaast, an Kayn/LoL (103) alternate icon for Shadow Step is used but has no modified effect.
    • The bonus movement speed Kayn/LoL (104) stacks multiplicatively with other sources of movement speed boosts.
    • Self Kayn/LoL (105) immobilizations such as Kayn/LoL (106) Zhonya's Hourglass also count for interrupting Shadow Step.
    • Kayn/LoL (107) Recall is disabled while Kayn is inside terrain.
    • Enemies cannot see Kayn while he is inside of terrain unless they have terrain-piercing vision, such as Kayn/LoL (108) Heightened Senses, Kayn/LoL (109) Hawkshot or Kayn/LoL (110) unobstructed vision.
      • However, enemies and allies (including Kayn) will be notified when nearby terrain is infested if Kayn is within 1000 units of an enemy champion - with an indicator being placed on the terrain with a direct line between Kayn and the enemy champion. Slightly less than standard sight radius, but more than the Kayn/LoL (111) camouflage detection radius.
    • Kayn can move up to 550 units beyond the outer-edge of the battlefield.
    • Shadow Step can interact with player-generated terrain.
    • If Kayn is inside terrain when the effect ends, he will be placed correspondingly to the nearest valid space.
    • Kayn/LoL (112) Sleep will not interrupt Shadow Step.(bug)

    Passive: Kayn marks enemy champions he damaged in the last 3.15 seconds.

    Active: Kayn Kayn/LoL (115) vanishes and Kayn/LoL (116) dashes to a marked enemy champion. Upon arrival, he Kayn/LoL (117) channels for up to 2.5 seconds, Kayn/LoL (118) attaching to the target and Kayn/LoL (119) revealing them. Umbral Trespass can be recast after 0.75 seconds during the channel, and does so automatically after the duration or if it is Kayn/LoL (120) interrupted.

    Kayn/LoL (121)

    Recast: After a 0.75-second delay, Kayn deals physical damage to the target and Kayn/LoL (122) dashes out from their body in the target direction, detaching himself from them and becoming targetable again at the end of the dash.

    Kayn/LoL (123) Shadow Assassin Bonus: Umbral Trespass gains 200 bonus cast range and emerge range. Additionally, emerging will reset Kayn/LoL (124) The Darkin Scythe's Kayn/LoL (125)cooldown.

    Kayn/LoL (127) Darkin Bonus: Umbral Trespass is modified to deal physical damage equal to 15% (+ 10% per 100 bonus AD) of the target's maximum health, and Kayn/LoL (128) heals him for 11.25% (+ 7.5% per 100 bonus AD) of the target's maximum health.

    • The initial cast counts as an ability activation for the purposes of on-cast effects such as Kayn/LoL (129) Spellblade.
      • Detonating the ability manually does not.
      • The ability activation happens when Kayn is attached to his target and the channel starts.
        • Kayn/LoL (130) Kassadin cannot gain a stack for Kayn/LoL (131) Force Pulse because Kayn is untargetable during the activation.
    • The ability will recast if Kayn is ordered a movement command.
    • The amount of time it takes for Kayn to Kayn/LoL (132) attach to his target is between 0.5 seconds (cast from max range, not as Kayn/LoL (133) Shadow Assassin) and 0.25 seconds (cast from point blank range).
      • This duration is fixed, meaning Kayn will attach regardless of how far away the target gets while he is Kayn/LoL (134) dashing toward them.
    • If the target Kayn/LoL (135) dies, enters Kayn/LoL (136) resurrection, or is sent to the Kayn/LoL (137) Realm of Death while Kayn is Kayn/LoL (138) attached, he will instantly detach and reappear on top of the target's location. This does not occur if Kayn is in the process of emerging from the target.
      • If those same conditions occur before the attachment, Kayn will reappear at the target's location after completing the dash.
        • In both of these cases, Umbral Trespass will occasionally not go on cooldown.(bug)
      • Kayn will automatically emerge when attached to a Kayn/LoL (139) clone that expires.
    • If Kayn dies while Kayn/LoL (140) attached and the recast is available, Umbral Trespass' damage is dealt immediately. If the recast is not available, Umbral Trespass' damage is not dealt at all.
      • Entering Kayn/LoL (141) resurrection while Kayn/LoL (142) attached does not deal Umbral Trespass' damage regardless of if the recast is available or not.
        • Kayn will detach immediately in both cases.
    • During Umbral Trespass, Kayn will not take the self-inflicted damage from Kayn/LoL (143) Death's Dance's Ignore Pain if the damage was sourced from a Kayn/LoL (144) turret.
    • As Kayn/LoL (145) Rhaast, Umbral Trespass will grant the Kayn/LoL (146) heal automatically if the target dies during the channel.
      • The heal is not granted if the target dies before the channel starts.
    • Umbral Trespass' interactions with Kayn/LoL (147) crowd control:
      • Being Kayn/LoL (148) stunned or Kayn/LoL (149) silenced or falling Kayn/LoL (150) asleep while Kayn/LoL (151) attached will cause the ability to recast automatically (even during the 0.75-second delay before Kayn is able to recast after attaching).
      • Umbral Trespass Kayn/LoL (152) cleanses Kayn from Kayn/LoL (153) drowsiness.
      • Kayn is immune to Kayn/LoL (154) fear during Umbral Trespass.
      • Kayn/LoL (155) Roots will not prevent Kayn from initiating the recast.
      • Kayn/LoL (156) Displacements cannot interrupt the initial dash and neither can they apply while Kayn is attached. If the airborne source applies a debuff, Kayn attaches to his target immediately, ending the dash prematurely in the process. The debuff is also removed instantly.
    • Until the recast or after the duration, the ability will have had no effect on the target for the purposes of Kayn/LoL (157) Electrocute or the 'in-combat' status.
    • Kayn/LoL (158) Spell shields will prevent Kayn from infesting the target, but will do nothing to mitigate the recast when used once he has already infested them.
      • If Kayn targets an enemy that is currently being protected by a spell shield, the ability will simply go on cooldown without making him infest his target.
    • Umbral Trespass cannot be cast on targetable Kayn/LoL (161) zombie states such as Kayn/LoL (162) Sion during Kayn/LoL (163) Glory in Death.
    • Kayn will draw Kayn/LoL (164) turret aggro after the recast's dash, despite the damage occurring while he was untargetable.
    • The damage is not blocked if the target becomes Kayn/LoL (165) untargetable.
    • Kayn will copy his target's total size for Umbral Trespass' duration, even if their size is smaller than his.
    • The screen will direct to the target's position upon attaching.
    • As Kayn/LoL (166) Rhaast, an Kayn/LoL (167) alternate icon is used for the initial activation of Umbral Trespass.

      • Innate: Kayn wields an ancient, sentient weapon, that battles with him for control. Dealing damage against champions causes them to drops orbs that are automatically collected upon leaving combat, filling a bar above Kayn's portrait.
      • Once the bar is full he can choose to either be overwhelmed by Kayn/LoL (322) Rhaast or expel him to become the Kayn/LoL (323) Shadow Assassin, based on whether he has damaged more Kayn/LoL (324) melee or Kayn/LoL (325) ranged champions, respectively. Once primed, the other option becomes available after 4 minutes.
      • The transformation can only be performed by interacting with their portrait while on the summoning platform, permanently changing their abilities.
      • Kayn/LoL (326) Shadow Assassin: Kayn's basic attacks and abilities deal 12% − 44% (based on level) of post-mitigation damage as bonus magic damage, lasting for 3 seconds upon entering in combat with an enemy champion, refreshing after 8 seconds out of combat with them or by using Umbral Trespass.
      • Kayn/LoL (327) Rhaast: Rhaast heals for 26% − 43% (based on level) of the post-mitigation damage that he deals with spells against enemy champions.

      • Active: Kayn dashes forward, dealing 55 / 75 / 95 / 115 / 135 (+ 65% bonus AD) physical damage to all enemies he passes through before flourishing his scythe, dealing the same damage again to surrounding enemies.

      • Kayn/LoL (330) Rhaast: Both instances of Reaping Slash's damage are modified to 50% AD (+ 5% (+ 4% per 100 bonus AD) of target's maximum health) physical damage, capped at 200 / 250 / 300 / 350 / 400 against monsters.
      • Regardless of the form, both instances of Reaping Slash deals 55 bonus damage against monsters.

      • Kayn/LoL (333) Shadow Assassin: Blade's Reach's range is increased by 200, deals 10% bonus AD bonus damage and the Kayn/LoL (334) slow decays over 2 seconds. Additionally, Kayn conjures a living shadow at the casting position to perform Blade's Reach in his stead, allowing Kayn to perform other actions.
      • Kayn/LoL (335) Rhaast: Blade's Reach Kayn/LoL (336) knocks up enemies for 1 second.
      • Mana Cost: 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 / 80

Kayn heals himself for 100 / 115 / 130 / 145 / 160 (+ 40% bonus AD) health upon moving through terrain for the first time and, if he's not in combat with enemy champions, Shadow Step's duration is increased to 5 seconds. Entering combat with a champion after the effect is enhanced reduces the remaining duration to 1.5 seconds.
      • Kayn/LoL (339) Shadow Assassin: Casting Shadow Step removes Kayn/LoL (340) slows, additionally if Kayn enters terrain at least once, Shadow Step will be improved for the remainder of its duration to grant 70% bonus movement speed and make Kayn immune to Kayn/LoL (341) slows.
      • Kayn/LoL (342) Rhaast: Shadow Step is unchanged.
